How to set up and run a public reuse centre: the PREUSE strategy is online
Thinking about setting up a reuse centre? PREUSE has just published the draft version of its strategy: a practical guide to help public authorities set up and run reuse centres for salvaged construction materials.
This guide supports your organisation at every stage: getting started, choosing a site, managing materials, organising staff and controlling costs. It is aimed mainly at public authorities looking to set up or strengthen a reuse centre in their territory. It is based on extensive fieldwork carried out across North-West Europe: the detailed analysis of eighteen case studies and workshops held with more than sixty public authorities. These field lessons are translated into a strategy structured in five clear stages.
This is a working draft, meant to evolve: it will be revised and enriched with feedback, lessons learned and new findings before the final version is published at the end of the project.

Local Action Plans: the four PREUSE pilot territories
The City of Mechelen, the Métropole du Grand Paris, the City of Utrecht and the Municipality of Wiltz have each published a Local Action Plan, a concrete roadmap for setting up or strengthening a public reuse centre. The four plans are available in full, in open source, with their supporting annexes.

This deliverable documents a series of 18 reuse centres that were visited between June 2024 and June 2025 in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal and Switzerland.
This study has two objectives:
- Observe how each center visited addressed the various issues related to the operation of a reuse center (storage, staff organization, material preparation, packaging, financing),
- Identify relevant criteria for the creation of future reuse centers.
This state-of-the-art analysis also serves as inspiration for the production of the upcoming Strategy and the development of the various pilot projects.
