A special time to share progress
For two days in December, the project partners met in Mechelen (Belgium) for the third Steering Committee meeting of the PREUSE programme!
It was an invaluable opportunity to share progress on the various activities, while working as a group on key issues.
The first day was an opportunity to collectively discuss the development of the following activities:
- Set an online reference centre for documentation and interactions on salvage and reuse (What types of document are accepted? Which interface? How should subjects be organised?),
- The creation of training programmes to increase the building industry's capacity to reclaim and reuse construction materials,
- Developments in the live tests, particularly concerning the wood reuse ecosystem and many other initiatives in the field. You can find the latest news about the project's 3 pilot operations in this news.
Workshops, meetings and visit to stimulate our thinking!
On the second day, we got together to work at Weirfheide & Circular Hub Mechelen Region.
This was an opportunity to focus on the evolution of the action plans and their development strategy. Several partners were able to give detailed presentations and share with us their ideas and operations in their regions. The City of Utrecht, for example, shared its ideas on the development of its asset management strategy and the operation of its reuse centre, which will open its doors in March 2025. The action planning workshops also generated stimulating discussions and valuable contributions from all participants.
Steering Committe is a great opportunity to visit players in the field! All the partners had the chance to visit the Materialenbank Leuven, where we were given a detailed presentation of the site which specialises in wood processing. . It was an inspiring visit that will help us to continue our research and take forward reclaimd and reuse practices in the construction sector.
