And off we go!
February 28 saw the official launch of the new European Interreg NWE project: PREUSE!
For the occasion, our team of 8 organisations met at the Rotor offices in Brussels, the project's lead partner. Three days to present the actions to be carried out over the next 5 years, but also an opportunity to meet each other, exchange views on the contexts and expertise of each, and start visiting inspiring places!
PREUSE stands for Public Responses to Enable the Circulation of Salvaged building Elements, because we are going to work and study how to facilitate the development of reuse centres by local and regional public authorities and how to consolidate the construction industry's capacity to adopt recovery and reuse practices.
The expected results of the project are:
- A strategy for developing reuse centres for construction materials recovered from public works sites.
- A series of local action plans for the future development of reuse centres.
- 3 pilot projects to test innovative formats for reuse centres to take place in Lorient (FR), Roubaix (FR) and Utrecht (NL).
- Public and private organisations trained in the recovery and reuse of building materials.
Two inspiring visits
What better way to get to the heart of the matter than to go out into the field? This first trip was an opportunity for the partners to start discovering and meeting players who are involved in reuse and developing solutions in their area.
The partners and associate partners of the project were able to visit two inspiring sites:
- Municipal depot of roadworks materials of Schaarbeek/Schaerbeek.
- In Limbo, a reuse centre for materials from cultural organisations
